Trans Jogja, Since last March, 2008, The Transportation Department, The Government of DIY Province has started to implement the bus rapid transport system which is inexpensive and air-conditioned for all around Yogyakarta, which often called as the Trans Jogja. The new transportation system is managed by PT. Jogja Tugu Trans and is a part of the implementation program of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) announced by the local Transportation Department. As has been applied in Jakarta with its TransJakarta, the system put in place for the Trans Jogja is also the same, namely a closed system. The puprose of this closed system is that the passangers who want to use this transportation should pass through the check points which are located at several points around the city in advance. The bus fleet used is medium-sized buses and air-conditioned.
The Payment System and The Routes of Trans Jogja
Trans Jogja, The payment system applied on Trans Jogja is by using tickets. The tickets are used has three kinds; one-way ticket (single trip ticket) for Rp. 3000, student ticket for Rp. 2000, and the general subscription ticket. In accordance with the name, a single trip ticket can be used only for one way, while a student ticket is a ticket specifically used for students in uniform, and a general subscription ticket is a ticket that will be used by passengers by purchasing a prime card for Rp. 15.000 which can be refilled at least for Rp. 15.000. the ticket used is different from the other bus ticket in general, since Trans Jogja enforce such smart card ticket. The passengers who wanted to use this bus, could come to the bus stops spread on some important points. To enter the bus stop, the passengers are firstly allowed to buy tickets (for single trip ticket passengers) to the officers at the tip of the bus stop. Then, the ticket will be checked automatically by a machine which the automatically opens the door/barrier of the bus stop. These bus stops are spread in all public places such as some recreational places, schools, banks, colleges, hospitals, libraries, and Samsat.
Trans Jogja, Besides the tickets and few points of bus stops of Trans Jogja, one thins that must also be considered by a passenger is the routes passed by the bus fleet. Trans Jogja provided 8 kinds of routes with different paths, they are: Route 1A with the routes of Prambanan Bus Stop – Adisucipto Airport – Tugu Station – Malioboro – JEC, Route 1B with the routes of Prambanan Bus Stop – Adisucipto Airport – JEC – Main Post Office – Pingit – UGM, Route 2A with the routes of Jombor Bus Stop – Malioboro – Basen – Kridosono – UGM – Condong Catur Bus Stop, Route 2B with the routes of Jombor Bus Stop – Condongcatur Bus Stop – UGM – Kridosono – Basen – Main Post Office – Wirobrajan – Pingi, Route 3A with the routes of Giwangan Bus Stop – Kotagede – Adisucipto Airport – North Ringroad – MM UGM – Pingit – Malioboro – Jokteng Kulon, Route 3B with the routes of Giwangan Bus Stop – Jokteng Kulon – Pingit – MM UGM – North Ringroad – Adisucipto Airport – Kotagede, Route 4A with the routes of Giwangan Bus Stop – Tamansiswa – Pakualaman – Lempuyangan – Kridosono, and Route 4B with the routes of Giwangan Bus Stop – XT Square – SGM – Balaikota – UIN – Kridosono – Balai Yasa – UIN.
Some Complaints About Trans Jogja
Trans Jogja, The development of this transportation system has still some weaknesses. In accordance to those weaknesses, it causes some compalints from some passengers or users of Trans Jogja. One complaint was said by passengers is the loud music played in the bus. Some drivers often play music in a loud volume, so the passengers who are speaking on the phone while they are in the bus, are disturbed since they can’t hear the voice on the phone clearly. In addition, some fleets of Trans Jogja have some damages on its AC that are not even repaired, so that the passengers complain about being sweat when the bus fully filled with passengers.
